A bar so hidden you’d never find it unless someone showed you, Infusion Room is a gem of a craft cocktail spot hidden in the loft of a former factory building in the heart of Sanlitun. With Mao-era propaganda slogans still visible on the bar’s concrete beams, the industrial look contrasts well with the glamorous soaring pyramid of glistening spirit bottles. All of the cocktails you’ll find here are inventive and delicious, using a whole range of local ingredients to offer visitors a taste experience they’ve likely never had before. Take the ‘Chengdu’ cocktail for example, which takes fermented bamboo juice, suze, gin and dried bamboo leaves and then serves it all in a stylish bamboo cup. Another popular tipple mixes gin, Earl Grey, roselle and fermented tofu to surprisingly delicious effect.
